It Is Our Wedding Day!

12 • 30 • 2011  |  Misc.
By the time this post goes live in a few days, it will be our wedding day, and I honestly am so happy that all the planning and fussing over everything is finally here to enjoy, and I get to marry the man that has changed my life forever. I know things will go wrong, but I hope that I take the words I have given to many of my brides, take it in stride, as you do not get a do-over. With all the little details of throwing three events (we had the traditional rehearsal dinner and then a welcome party the night before, and will be throwing a NYE Day After party tomorrow, in lieu of a typical brunch), I now value even more what having a planner is for. My job as a planner is not just to give my client the best vendors for their wedding, keep tabs on budget and help design whether wood cross back or chiavari chairs would look best in their venue. It is all of that, but also to be the filter of what brides don't need to hear about months before or even the week of their wedding.

Obviously, I planned and designed my own wedding, but there were times along the way where I wish that I didn't have to hear that bad news from a vendor, keep track of the budget or construct a timeline that was seven pages and included 17 different vendors. There is a level of cushion that we provide for our clients, and I have truly realized how priceless that is!

The good news is that I have a wonderful team of vendors working together to make our day so special, including my own staff and one of our wedding planner friends that has offered to assist during the core times of right before ceremony to after room flip. My anxiety over the wedding is really how many times I will cry, and also, being the attention of 285 people for an entire evening. I know I will get over it soon enough, but just last night I had a dream that we forgot to exchange rings during the ceremony. The wedding dreams are a whole separate blog post!!

Anyway, I must get back to the final details of out of town gift bags, picking up and dropping off wine and packing up all the items for the wedding for the lovely Adrianna to take off my hands. I will definitely share more of my thoughts (...and hopefully a few photos) when we return from our mini-honeymoon. I wish you all an amazing 2012, and a restful end of your holidays.

Cheers,

  Kathryn

Jenn + Caleb

South End Rowing Club | Oct 1
12 • 27 • 2011  |  Real Weddings
Jenn & Caleb came to me to help them plan and design a wedding at one of their favorite places, the South End Rowing Club. This rowing club is where they spend a lot of their time together, swimming in the cold bay waters, but also relaxing and enjoying what they both love to do. It was fitting that their wedding be there, but a few obstacles were the rowing clubs decor is a little on the dated side, and we also had to contend with mother nature, as most of the venue is outdoors.

We had a lot of visits to the location, and luckily, I had worked there a couple of times in the past and knew what worked and what didn't. We had multiple meetings with our design team of the florist, lighting, rentals and linens. It took a few tweaks, but we finally came up with our overall design, which in the end I think went extremely well with the venue and this couple.

I am excited to share these photos with you that were taken by the wonderful Adi Nevo!

Wedding Highlight Video | Less Than 3 Productions
12 • 20 • 2011  |  Real Weddings
I am so excited to share Marivic and John's highlight video of their wedding from September 18th. Their ceremony took place at the beautiful Wilhelmina Tulip Garden right under the Dutch Windmill and their reception was at the historic Cliff House Restaurant. The day was gorgeous, and it turned out to be one of the best weather days in San Francisco, 75 degrees and crystal clear. I think this piece is an awesome reflection of this couple's style, energy and love. Huge thank you to Less Than 3 Productions for sharing with us.

I look forward to sharing more of their wedding images with you by Kate Webber Photography. But for now, enjoy the video!
Cheers,

  Adrianna

That's A Wrap!

2011 season is complete
12 • 12 • 2011  |  Misc.
Our 2011 season just wrapped this past Saturday night, and we are so thankful to be able to work with such a wonderful group of clients, vendors and staff. We started the year at the Flood Mansion on January 29th, and ended at the Mill Valley Outdoor Art Club in December 10th. Ironically, the bride from January was a bridesmaid at the last wedding. It was a great way to end the season, and we celebrated last night with a night out on Union Street in San Francisco. We started a little pre-party at the Bus Stop for some afternoon football watching, and then ended the night at Terzo for a family style meal complete with stories and laughs.
We also celebrated the new bride, Britt, who was just married on Dec 3rd, and said goodbye to our longtime planner, Brittani, who has accepted a job with a corporate event planning company. We are sad to see her go, but know this is a great opportunity.

Now, with my wedding in two and a half weeks, I'm going to sign out until early January, but not to worry, there will be many blog posts going up over the next few weeks with tons of real wedding inspiration and some exciting new news that we have! We hope the holidays bring you a time of rest and reflection, and can't wait to work with all of our 2012 clients.

Happy Holidays and 2012!

  Kathryn
